Pinterest to the Rescue

Where did it all go? My free time? My family time? My crafting time?

For those of you who know me personally, you have all heard my stories of going back to teaching full-time. For those of you who don’t — I took a job at a Charter School that has been…um…interesting. I was prepared for the long days and smiling faces. But I wasn’t prepared for the AP and the art teacher to both quit within the first two weeks and send everything into spiraling uncertainty. Each morning I expect the Principal to walk out with Jeff Probst and ask me to wrestle a Kindergarten teacher for immunity or risk being voted off the Charter Island. So a kid-free long weekend to gather my composure and a modicum of sanity was just about perfect.

I feel like it has been an eternity that my very fancy Husqvarna designer sewing machine has been sitting  shrouded on my table. So I chose a quick sewing project for Mommy’s “Me Time.” Luckily, I found this tutorial for pajamas pants on Pinterest not too long ago. A quick trip to the fabric section at Wal-Mart while dropping off the kids with Grandma and I was ready to go.

Matilda picked out the fabric from the clearance section — and 1 yard cost me a whopping 75 cents. That’s right – less than $1.

75 cents!!

The directions on the blog were very clear, and I was able to stitch these together in less than 30 minutes. When Ms. M returns from Grandma’s house, I will measure her for the elastic waistband and they will be all done.

The pattern was so easy, in fact, I think that I will finally have the matching PJs I always wanted the family to have for Christmas this year — and every person I know just might receive PJs for gifts. Well, if I’m not voted off the island first….
